Class of 2008?

The past year or so, I have been receiving in the mail ads to do with a 2008 graduation. Last summer it started with multiple senior picture ads, then it was financial aid seminars, recently it turned to tuxedo rentals (like I actually would find someone to rent a tux!), then just a week or so ago, I received an ad from Gordon Food Services. I am Not graduating this spring!! It does get discouraging when I'm habitually receiving things for a 2008 graduation, and my high schooling has not yet been completed.

I do hope to complete my high school work by December of this year, but I plan to actually do the graduation festivities in the spring of '09.

In other things: Daddy has been very sick. He went to the doctor on Tuesday, where he got antibiotics and cough medicine. Yesterday, he went back to work for a 1/2 day and today for a full day. He had a virus which developed into a bacterial infection. Mainly, he was plagued with a horrible, productive cough.

Je did her 1st on the job shot today. We all enjoy hearing about her time at her externship. She is working mainly in the clinical area now. At the library, she quit working on Thursdays. Now she just works Mondays and Saturdays there.

Today Mommy and I cleaned the house, opened the windows, and aired out the house.

Today I joined Homeschool Alumni. I heard about it quite a while ago, and finally I joined. If you're a homeschool student 16 years or older, or you're a homeschool graduate you can join. If you fit in either of those categories, come on and join. I'd love to put some people on my "friend" list.

Externship, Vinegar, Pride and Prejudice, and Do Hard Things

Je has been extremely busy. She started her externship Monday, and worked there Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Plus, she is still working at the library and going to college. She also started going to the chiropractor. By Wednesday, she was exhausted. At least on Thursday she could rest a little. She seems to enjoy her externship and she fits in well at the office. Wednesday night after church, we bought her new scrubs, that were on sale.

Mommy:
Sadly, I don't seem to mention her much. Well, the last couple of weeks she has taken a liking to vinegar. Vinegar takes out bad smells and whitens the laundry. Just add 1/2 a cup during the rinse cycle. Oh, and if you need to get blood out of anything, use hydrogen peroxide

Daddy:
He is in the thick of the cold he caught from Je and I. An interesting fact about Daddy is one of his favorite movies is A&E's Pride and Prejudice. Although we are suppose to be on a month long fast from videos or DVDs, we still watched Pride and Prejudice.

Ki (Me):
With Je being gone a Lot, I was able to finish my school work, mostly. When Je's home I like to spend time with her. On Wednesday, Do Hard Things (by Alex and Brett Harris) arrived in the mail. I was so excited! I haven't quite finished my copy, only about 50 pages left!It has turned out to be quite the thought provoking book! My goal was to finish my American Literature, Accounting, and the reading of American History by May 2nd. But, I don't think Accounting or Literature will quite make it. American History should be done by May 2nd, though.

The Great Fire

This past week I read The Great Fire by Jim Murphy. Some interesting facts I learned were:

1. Some people believe the Chicago Fire, was sent down by God to judge the North, for what they did to the South during the War for Southern Independence.

2. Mr. and Mrs. O’Leary were both in bed when the fire started.

3. The O’Leary’s house was not hurt in the fire.

4. The Anniversery of the Great Chicago Fire occurs on my birthday.

Externship, Easter Egg Hunt, and English Literature

It has been a fairly busy week for me. Next week and the weeks following, Je is going to be very busy with her externship, work, school, and homework. Monday Je starts her externship. This week Je and I have both had bad head colds.

Last Wednesday, Mommy and I went to an Abeka book display in Holland and bought my English Literature. For weeks I had been looking forward to ordering it. Mommy says, once I finish my American Lit, I may start English Lit. Late yesterday afternoon I participated in a Teen Easter Egg hunt at our local library. Je and Mommy wanted me to participate in the hunt, so I did. Actually it turned out to be quite a bit of fun, and I found one of the grand prize eggs. The grand prize was a gift bag full of tons of candy and a few other things. After the Easter egg hunt the three ladies went out to eat at Arby's and then on to Ladies Bible Study.

My songs in piano are "Waltz in F major, Op. 34 No 3" by Chopin, "Rose Leaf Rag" by Joplin, an arrangement of "O How He Loves You and Me", and the Patch the Pirate song, "Helpers". You can hear someone play the Chopin piece here.

Je Has Been Placed for Her Externship!!

This afternoon Je received an e-mail from her teacher, that she has been placed in an Internal Medicine office in Muskegon for her externship! Mommy's pretty excited and has been researching all she can find out about the office. Next Wednesday, Je is to call the office manager; (I assume to get all the details.)

Je is still looking for a car. We found a nice 2001 blue Honda Accord, but it sold at an auction on Wednesday way over what it was worth, so we didn't buy it.

Tonight is reading night. I'm planning to read With Lee in Virgina by G.A. Henty.
